Dynamic vlan assignment on Stellar Express Mode

Hello,

Is it possible to configure Stellar Express Mode to use dynamic vlan assignment based on Radius response (using Tunnel-Private-Group-ID) ? I can’t find the option when creating/editing a SSID. I can only pick a VLAN.
(WPA2/WPA3-Enterprise)

Thanks,
Regards

Hi, I’ll start by saying that I’m fairly new to ALE equipment myself, and I didn’t get the chance to lab all this yet. But yes, seems like it is indeed possible do auto-vlan assignment in Express mode.

If you read Stellar 4.0.8.16 release notes, you will see this feature has been added with this patch. Check the ‘new software features’ section for details.

Some notes on this:

  • -only supported in wifi6 and higher models (AP1301 and higher)
    -supported attributes are:
    • a) Tunnel-Type
      b) Tunnel-Medium-Type
      c) Tunnel-Private-Group-ID

And, if you are using ALE switches as well, you may need this:

aaa radius unp-profile-precedence tunnel-private-group-id

since by default ALE switches use ‘filter-id’
Now, if you don’t mind my request since as I said I cant lab this yet:
Would you kindly post a reply if this worked with a sample config from your radius side as well?

Thanks for your response. Unfortunately, i can’t download any firmware because i’m not ALE Partner…
I guess i will find another solution to replace it.
Thanks
