I’m curious if EMP is what you want to use for out of band management of a virtual chassis? Is there any documentation out there that describes the different scenerios that can be used? My thinking was i wanted to put a four port pci card in a management workstation and ip the workstation and the emp ports on the same network so that from the management workstation i could ssh into the emp management ip’s. Would that be a way to use it? I appreciate any insight, documentation or how to’s.
EMP Port is isolated port where you can only remotely manage using EMP IP of the Switch in L2. Typically used by directly a connecting PC to manage the switch using IP address. In short more like console port but we use IP to communicate in EMP port. Configuration of EMP IP address is stored in vcsetup.cfg file and where all other user /network traffic based config is on vcboot.cfg file. More information you may find switch management guide.
